This week I’ve been back up in Sheffield for my first block release week of the semester – I’ve got two more between now and Christmas, with a decent chunk of coursework in between.
My first week back has focused entirely on Rail Specific Engineering – a module that gives an overview of the various infrastructure engineering disciplines, before we split into our specialisations. This week has covered signalling basics, hydraulics (and their applications on the railway) and the first of two lectures on track assets.
