It’s my first driving shift back today after a couple of weeks holiday. As much as I didn’t want to leave the joviality of cocktails and warm beaches, I am actually excited to be getting back on a loco and driving a train.
I’ve told my trainee today that I’m in the driving seat for the shift today. This is partly due to the fact that I want to drive, and also due to the fact that I need to manage my own competence. It’s been about 4 weeks in total since I actually sat in the driving seat, sure I’ve instructed, but if you don’t drive every now and again you quickly start to become de skilled.
I guess the fact that I’m excited to get back in the driving seat goes to show that despite the daily grind and the monotony of working life, I still love my job.
Moving forward, streams will start again next week, and we are going to be setting up more community events and multiplayer games nights in the server. – watch this space!
