I’m still standby with noting much to report. One of the duties on standby is the assist the yard shunter with any shunting duties and loco preps ect. Today I was asked to cold start some locos. In the winter we like to make sure the locos are started regularly to keep the batteries topped up. Just like in your car cold weather kills batteries. Looks like these 2 hadn’t been started in a while. Cold starts are one of the most satisfying parts of the job.
