Not an engineering post today, but found this little guy on site while doing some survey work – you don’t see snakes very frequently in the UK but we do see them on the railways in the summer basking on the ballast or hiding in the shade in the web of the rail.
Rarely you’ll see an adder or sometimes a slow worm, but on this occasion it was a grass snake (identifiable by the yellow stripe behind its head)!
